Suspect in killing of lawyer Nozdrovska detained

Ukrainian law enforcement officers have detained a suspect in the murder of human rights activist and lawyer Iryna Nozdrovska.

Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has said that details of the murder of lawyer Iryna Nozdrovska will be disclosed after the completion of the investigation.

"Yes, the police detained the suspect in the murder of Nozdrovska. The evidence is more than serious. No need for conjecture - the information will be fully disclosed after the end of the ongoing investigative actions - tomorrow," Avakov wrote on Facebook.

At present, the detainee's testimony regarding his involvement in the crime is being checked.

As reported, lawyer Nozdrovska, who lived in the village of Demydiv in Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region, was found dead in a river on January 1, 2018. A criminal case on deliberate murder was opened.

The National Police of Ukraine reported that 300 ministry employees, in particular, operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department and investigators, were involved in probing Nozdrovska's murder,

Nozdrovska for a long time sought a verdict for the murderer of her sister, Svitlana, who was killed in a road accident in September 2015.

The woman was knocked down by a drunk driver, the nephew of the chairman of Vyshgorod District Court, Dmytro Rossoshansky. Despite the obvious nature of the crime, relatives sought justice for more than two years. Lawyer Iryna Nozdrovska personally oversaw the case, spoke in court, and due to this she repeatedly received threats from the defendant and his relatives.
