Naftogaz sees 14.5% rise in gas purchase in Jan-Oct

National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy bought 19 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in January-October 2017, which is 14.5% or 2.4 bcm more than a year ago.

The company said in a press release that in particular, the company's imports from the European market over the period grew by 29.3% or 1.7 bcm, to 7.5 bcm, and purchase of gas from Ukrgazvydobuvannia rose by 6.5%, to 11.5 bcm.

In October, Naftogaz bought 1.5 bcm of gas, including 1.1 bcm from Ukrgazvydobuvannia and 0.4 bcm of imported gas.

This year, Naftogaz is procuring imported gas from 13 European suppliers, with none of them accounting for more than 30% in total gas imports. Almost all this gas was received from Slovakia (7.4 bcm), while supplies from Hungary amounted to only 0.1 bcm.

Ukraine has not imported gas from Russia this year, as well as in 2016, with all imported supplies coming from the European direction.
