Court confirms legality of appointing Gontareva as NBU head

According to the report, the plaintiffs tried to prove the illegality of appointing Gontareva as head of the National Bank due to a lack of experience in leadership positions in the country's banks to oblige the head of state to make a proposal on her dismissal. However, the court ruled that the professional experience of Gontareva meets the legal requirements. "According to Gontareva's work book, considered at a court meeting, her work experience at senior positions in banks complies with the requirements of Article 18 of the law of Ukraine on the National Bank of Ukraine," the regulator said. During the meeting the court confirmed that Gontareva has an impeccable reputation. At the same time, her professional experience of work in leading Ukrainian and international financial institutions exceeds 20 years, including more than 11 years at senior positions.
