Ukrainian Aviation Service annuls Turkmenistan Airlines' right to fly to Kyiv

"In spite of signing a protocol of the fourth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in Ashgabat on July 27, 2015, during which both sides expressed interest in the development of regular air communication between Ukraine and Turkmenistan and recommended airlines of the two countries to consider the issue of providing regular flights between Kyiv and Ashgabat, the Turkmen side by this time has not issued permits to Ukraine International Airlines for regular flights on the Kyiv-Ashgabat route," reads a posting on the website of the service. At the same time, the agency notes that the Turkmen airline received necessary permits from Ukraine on time and without obstruction resumed flights to Ukraine. "As the Turkmen airline operates on the Kyiv-Ashgabat route unilaterally, which is contrary to Paragraph 1 of Article 11 of the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of air service, the Aviation Service is forced to resort to measures of control and, exercising its right, from August 16, 2015 to cancel permits for Kyiv-Ashgabat flights issued to Turkmenistan Airlines," reads the report.
