Poroshenko signs law on national police

On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada voted down a draft resolution to revoke the bill. The law becomes effective three months after the date of its publication, except for certain provisions. In particular, the provisions concerning Kyiv patrol police shall come into effect immediately after publication. The provisions concerning the Odesa and Lviv patrol police forces shall come into force as of August 20, 2015. The new patrol police started working in Kyiv on July 4.
