As reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on June 3 that he had submitted a list of candidates for CEC membership to the Verkhovna Rada.

The text of the documents is not available. Both documents have been sent for consideration to the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada. In particular, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has proposed to dismiss 12 members of the Central Election Commission, including its chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky.
A seven-year term of 12 of 15 CEC members has expired on June 1, 2014. However, they continue to stay in office in line with amendments to the law of Ukraine on the Central Election Commission made in March 2014 in order to avoid gaps in the election process during the presidential campaign.According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada appoints and dismisses members of the Central Election Commission as proposed by the president.

On May 6, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy said that the parliamentary factions had nominated their candidates for CEC membership a long time ago. He also promised that as soon as the president nominates candidates the parliament would promptly consider his proposal and vote on the candidates.
