Venice Commission supports decommunization in Ukraine

Ukraine has the right to hold decommunization and prohibit the use of certain symbols. Such interim conclusions were made by the experts of the Venice Commission regarding the Law  condemning communist and Nazi totalitarian regimes, that was passed by the Ukrainian Parliament in April last year.

Meanwhile, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Volodymyr Vyatrovych noted that the European experts expressed a number of remarks to the document.

MPs,authors of the bill along with national experts, scientists and the public - are going to take them into account and finalize the document in the next 3 months to enable the Parliament to introduce the appropriate changes to the law as soon as possible .
